    The Armies

The army lists in l'Art de la guerre are split into two eras, which are themselves each subdivided into three periods :

      Antiquity

      • Ancient Period
      • Classical Period
      • Roman Period

      Middle Ages

      • Dark Ages
      • Feudal Ages
      • Late Middle Ages

Within each period the lists are grouped by geographical area. This classification allows tournaments to be easily organised, whether the choice of armies is unrestricted or it is limited to a theme, for example to armies connected in time and/or by geography.

Lists for the armies of Americas have been grouped together and effectively form a seventh period. For a tournament, organisers are free to include them in the most appropriate of the other periods.

300 army lists are included in the rulebook l'Art de la guerre.
