A group of two units in line charge from close in the rear quarter of an enemy already engaged in melee. One unit can contact the flank edge, the other the rear edge. Does each conform ending up with both rear and flank attacks?
On the one hand there is no rule against this. On the other there is no example and there is some sense that charging groups should keep their formation where possible. |

I doubt it.
Applying the conformation procedure on page 50 in a step by step fashion would seem to me to preclude this. First the group makes contact, slides to align, and then pivots.
So I don't see how this would ever result in conformation against two edges. |
