P 36, 2nd bullet says:

“If needed the unit can slide inside the ZOC to align and contact the most threatening enemy.â€

Is this to be understood as an additional slide when, for example moving into a ZOC, or in addition to a slide or wheel at the start of the charge, in place of such a wheel or slide at the start if the charge, or may it only be executed at the beginning of the charge? How does this interact with the errata?

The errata says:

“2nd bullet: A unit may always charge the most threatening enemy. A wheel, quarter turn, half turn or
slide is allowed to become more aligned with the most threatening enemy before charging it.â€

Is the errata a replacement for, or an addition to, what the book says here?

Where this matters is if you can’t strike the enemy with a wheel, slide, or turn at the start if the charge but could do so with a slide once in his ZOC.

For example a charging unit CC a bit behind a friend FF in melee against enemy E1 wants to charge the adjacent enemy unit E2. By sliding at the start of the charge it can’t charge E2 because it won’t clear FF, and a wheel that clears FF will not leave E2 in its charge path. However, by wheeling it can get into E2’s ZOC and then slide over to put E2 in its charge path. Is this permitted?

Also, Sometimes also a slide at the start of the charge will not leave the enemy in the charge path but the enemy’s ZOC will be. Can you charge if the subsequent slide will place the the ZOCing enemy in urs charge path?

No it is not an additional slide.

It means that you can slide into a ZOC. You cannot slide out of the ZOC of the MTE.

The errata does not change the rules of movement.

There are times in a charge commonly in a turn where the act of a quarter turn bring the part of the unit that was in the ZOC to out of the ZOC. This allows the cahrge to go through. So it avoids some geometric pitfalls of say DBX.

Your examples seem (not really clear to me) to be amending the movement rules. The actions in a zoc do not change movement rules. It changes only how and what the zoc restricts.

I’m nott saying it is sliding out of the ZOC but within the ZOC that it will strike the target moving forward whereas it would not do so if it did not slide because the enemy front edge is off to the side of the path of the direction of travel.

As you have quoted, the errata says:

“2nd bullet: A unit may always charge the most threatening enemy. A wheel, quarter turn, half turn or slide is allowed to become more aligned with the most threatening enemy before charging it.â€

The answer to your question therefore rests on whether "before charging it" in this errata means "before charging it", or if it means "before and/or mid way through charging it".

My guess would be no, as "before" generally means "before".

But the erratum doesn't say it's taking anything away.
The original rule is obscure.
At a minimum, it looks like, if you didn't turn or slide before charging, you can slide during the charge if needed to make contact. Might be useful to move around an otherwise prohibiting obstacle.
