For the intrepid gamer I bring to you the first ever Kampala Open. (Kampala is in Uganda for the non-geographic people!)
All I need is 3 or 4 adventurers who would like to increase the ADLG diversity quota by entering Africa’s first ever ADLG tournament. (But there is no limit on numbers)
I am proposing 6 and 7 November 2027 as the date (but 30/31 Oct and 20/21 Nov are also on standby if needed)
The location will be Kigo, overlooking Lake Victoria in southern Kampala, just 25 minutes from Entebbe airport.
I would be interested in receiving expressions of interest in attendance.
I would also propose that I can
• Offer free accommodation for up to 4-5 couples if needed (2 ensuite rooms)
• Organise a day’s tour of Kampala and its historical spots
• Also help organize pre and post event safaris/gorilla trekking as required.
• Arrange other evening cultural events and visits
• Arrange airport pick up and other transport as needed
Entebbe Airport is a mere 8 hours on direct flights from the UK. So British attendees can leave the cold, rainy shores at breakfast time (after a pre-flight pint for £10) and then enjoy having a tea time feast of rhino meat (or similar) washed down with £1 a pint beer on the banks of Lake Victoria watching the elephants frolic in the water.
Flights from the rest of Europe are also pretty good with some direct links. You can also come via Istanbul, Addis Ababa and, the soon to be peaceful again, United Arab Emirates. Prices to suit all pockets.
I propose the theme will be any army that fought in Africa and will tighten it up later if there is enough interest.
You could really have an amazing time here. The safaris are brilliant, the people friendly and the weather is great too. You could even combine the trip with a stay in Zanzibar, or South Africa. The world is your oyster thanks to ADLG.
There are two 5 star hotels within 5 minutes of the venue, (Speke Resort and Lake Victoria Serena Resort) with other excellent hotels just 10 minutes away (Khazi Beach, Cassia Lodge and others- see Munyonyo and Buziga locations). Local establishments are also available from just £5 a night. I can give more recommendations later
Am happy to help in anyway to make your trip as fun as possible.
