You are invited to a two-day ADLG event at Sutton Courtenay (near Didcot) on the weekend of 13-14 June 2026. This will be a TEAM EVENT, with one player selecting a list from POOL A and one player selecting a list from POOL B. Team members will play as individuals, with the overall team score being calculated at the end of the fifth game.
Further details are as follows:
Points: 200
Time: 0900 to 1730 on the Saturday
0900 to 1500 on the Sunday
Theme: Islamic Conquest (622 to 751)
Poole A (Arabs)
• 128 Armenian Principality with compulsory Arab ally
• 130 Arab Conquest
• 131 Umayyad Arab
• 132 North African Arab
• 133 Andalusian Arab
• 134 Abbasid Arab
• 135 Arab Indian
• 139 Sogdian with compulsory Arab ally
• 170 Rashtrakutas Dynasty with compulsory Arab ally
Pool B (Others)
• 75 Early Arab
• 109 Sassanid Persian
• 112 Blemmyes and Nobatae
• 113 Moors
• 114 Kingdom of Axum
• 125 Maurikian Byzantine
• 126 Thematic Byzantine
• 128 Armenian Principality cannot have an Arab ally
• 139 Sogdian and Central Asian City States cannot have an Arab ally
• 140 Central Asian Turkish cannot have an Arab ally
• 141 Visigoths in Spain
• 148 Merovingian Frankish
• 152 Astur-Leonese
• 153 Carolingian Frankish
• 161 Khazar
• 166 Christian Nubian
• 170 Hindu Indian cannot have an Arab ally or be the Pala dynasty
• 171 Tang Chinese
• 172 Tibetan
Allies: No restrictions beyond those noted above. As an example, a Pool B player could take Tang with a Silla ally.
Cost: TBC. Probably £30 or £35..
List Checker: Jesse Schoor
Other notes: There will be plenty of free parking for all.
Tea, coffee, and lunch will be provided on both days.
Any profits will be donated to the Oxfordshire Dyslexia Association. This charity has done wonders for my youngest daughter and could really use the support.
I am still waiting for the hall dimensions to be confirmed. If there is sufficient space, then the tournament will be open to both 15 and 28mm players, subject to the following restrictions:
• Only one team member is allowed to play at 28mm scale.
• A minimum of eight players will be required for the 28mm option to be viable. Should an odd number of 28mm players show up, then one player will be moved back into the 15mm pool.
• All 28mm armies are to be based on 60mm wide bases. |

| This sounds like an interesting format. Is the idea that the Pool A players will each play aginst a Pool B player and thier teammate will play the corresponding Pool A player or will it just be a single normal draw with the scores being added at the end? |

Hi Kevin,
My original plan was that Pool A would always play against Pool B. On reflection, however, I think this would get a bit tedious for the Pool B players, as nobody wants to face off against the same army for five games.
The revised plan is for two teams to play each other on Game 1, with Pool A players squaring off against Pool B. From Game 2 onwards, I will use the normal pairing mechanism. The winning team will then be declared on the basis of combined score.
I think this format has legs, as it should ensure a broader mix of armies and (space permitting) will allow 28 and 15mm scales to participate in the same event.

So your minimum of 8 x 28mm players would be 4 pool A and 4 pool B , and equal pairs above that with, some bringing a duplicate little toys collection.? _________________ Player 747 don't call me Jumbo |

Hi Dickstick,
Not sure I understand the question.
In mind mind, 28mm players are welcome to play, provided that they pair up with a 15mm player. Each team can decide for themselves what pool the 28mm players will represent. In theory, 100% of 28mm players could take Pool A if that is what they want to do.
Bottom line is I want 28mm people to feel welcome, but I do not want to burden myself with too much paperwork. I am doing this for 'fun'.

| Hi Jesse, I think what Dickstick's getting at is that if, say, all the 25mm players join pool A, you won't be able to play round 1 as pool A versus pool B. I'm not complaining though, I think it's a good format to get more folks playing/mixing together, regardless of what pool we play against in round 1. I'm going to try to organise myself to come along. Cheers, Ian. |

Hi Ian,
OK. That makes sense. I suppose I will do some sort of fudge if this actually happens.

So assuming there are 5 games the minimum pool of each scale is six. Each player playing the other five. _________________ Player 747 don't call me Jumbo |
