The folk who made the English translation of the French rules did a pretty good job. Unlike (say) WRG and FoG they didn’t sit down to write rules from scratch trying to use nuanced English words and phrases. They simply translated what was there. I’m guessing they gave their time for free in a best efforts basis.
Yes, there are a few examples of things lost in translation that are progressively being picked up over time. A ruthless translation editor might well have picked up (and changed) cases where the same word was used in different contexts to mean slightly different things or have slightly different mechanics.
Most of us pedants with DBX memories are slowly coming round to not over-analysing the rules or using “gotchas†to win our games. Sometimes that means just accepting ambiguities and going with the flow.
