If you run the Lysimachus and Seleucus alliance at Ipsos option, are you required to have an allied or unreliable general?
If so, how do you figure out what these allied generals are required to have?
If not, I suppose you can have Lysimachus as a strategist while Seleucus or whoever is an ordinary, competent or brilliant reliable commander and no restrictions on which commander can command which troops…

The fact that this particular option is not actually allowed any allied contingents at all is something that I think most of the rest of us will have always regarded as a strong indication that neither allied generals nor contingents can be taken at all with this option, rather than seeing this as a potentially un-written suggestion that taking them might somehow be required.
The absence of any legal way to take allied generals does then render the question of what troops they might be obliged to take somewhat moot.
The complete absence of any mention of any requirement to take unreliable commanders (or even any hint or implication of it) in the list itself also surely rather suggests that there is no requirement to take unreliable commanders, and that you are free to approach this exactly as you choose .....?
