Do impetuous foot have to do uncontrolled charges against units behind stakes/fortifications (or from behind stakes/fortifications) ?


Both stakes and fortifications cancel the furious charge ability of impetuous foot units ?

Do they also cancel the impetuous bonus ?

Page 46 exceptions to uncontrolled charge bullet 4:

1. No uncontrolled charge for impetuous troops if they, or their target, are behind a fortification, obstacle, river, or in a village.

2. No uncontrolled charge for impetuous mounted if they, or their target, are behind stakes.

3. Ipso facto impetuous foot are subject to an uncontrolled charge if they, or their target, are behind stakes.

Also stakes cancel the Impact and Furious charge of mounted but not foot (P20, 6th bullet), and Impact and Furious charge do not apply if combat occurs across an obstacle or fortification (p67, 6th bullet).

So impetuous foot still retain impetuous bonus plus furious charge if fighting across stakes
