There is no simple answer!
For example
HC impact can only exit the Zoc of an enemy LC to its rear by doing Retreat of 2 UD (2CP) and becoming disordered.
But HC impetuous could do an uncontroll ... |

3. They slow down to their speed in that terrain but do keep moving until they have gone their full movement allowance in whatever terrain they are slowest in.

Carolingian Frankish (List 153) have it twice
Swabian (HC or Heavy swordmen)
and
Mounted archers with lance
(MC impact or bowmen) |

Some cavalry can dismount, if the mounted and foot units are listed on the same row (Page 21)..
Visigoth (93) and Vandals (94) are an example.

Forget all about elephant armour or Li as a protection.
A single enemy Lc javelin can easily charge the Li at great distance and force the Li to evade.
Why not keep the list simple?

These contacts would be flank attacks that cannot correctly conform

C will fight against 2 and B will give support to A and C
But
if the gaps are.075 UD
E will not be in the zoc of 4 and will not even make contact with 4....

Unit B is HC impetuous
The target is more than 1 UD to the side.
It is not possible to shift an attack the target.
B has to wheel
