Is it legal to go from overlap (simple support) and slide up along the enemy’’s edge and remain in simple support so you can flank him next round? Assuming there are no other opponents around.)
i.e. can you go from:
AABB
AABB
11
11
to:
AA
AABB
11BB
11

Yes; it is the basic way to generate an overlap. |

As Ramses said, in the case you describe the answer is an easy yes.
But reading page 41 and a close examination of the diagram on the bottom left of the page, will reveal some interesting subtleties in how one can slide along an enemy. |

As stated, yes.
Note you are describing a situation where both units begin in melee and support.
This would not work as a fresh group charge. |

What if another unit charges into melee with the enemy and then the second unit (for another CP) moves up from out of contact to simple support and then continues forward, sliding along the enemy’s side edge and stops while in side edge to side edge contact to provide simple support? |

Regarding your second question, page 41 first bullet under "sliding along the enemy" is relevant.
I read it as "yes" |
