A disengage move according to the first bullet on page 40 "must move its full movement allowance minus one UD"
The second bullet then says it stops if it meets an enemy unit or a friend which it cannot interpenetrate...
Does the presence of an enemy unit less than the full movement allowance minus one UD behind the unit then preclude the disengagement?
Or is the intent that the disengaging unit just stops in infinitesimal distance from the enemy it would contact?
I think I am reading too much into the word "must" and the latter seems most likely but I never know |

Yup, I think you are overthinking it.Â
Â
AFAIK, the unit disengaging effectively backs into the enemy unit, stopping ‘in contact’. This could well permit that enemy to conform on it’s rear providing there is sufficient room to do so.Â
Note, the move is straight back, no wheeling or slides etc. so if there is something in the way, the unit stops short. |

Sounds good -
I would point out that the second bullet says "The disengaging unit may not contact any enemy even the camp." so I don't think that conformation would be possible |

I assumed they would stop a few mm short of said enemy. |
