I've been playing ADLG for a while now but there is one thing I can never quite get to the bottom of - support shooting. My understanding is that a unit can only provide support shooting if it does not have a valid target of its own. I don't think this is explicitly stated in the rules but I infer it from the rules about target priority. Put another way a unit can only provide support shooting if it has the same priority target as the main shooter. What do people think? |

The target priorities of the unit that is shooting and the unit supporting may not be the same, but it is true that the supporter may not have a valid target of its own.Â
I suspect the issue is this; the way the priorities are worded causes a unit to shoot at a target to its front where there may be a nearer enemy to one side (that is possibly a more desirable target).Â
But you are getting two shots at different targets instead of one. |

The answer is in the text page 47 "Multiple shooters at the same target"
"If several shooters have the same target, the player can choose which unit will be the main shooter. Additional units …… give support"
As to shoot at a target you must apply target priorities, there is no trouble : the support shooting must follow target priority.
