I am having difficulty understanding how to move groups containing both impetuous and non-impetuous units or which move different speeds.
The FAQ under "Groups of Impetuous Units" specifies two cases. In the first a group of impetuous HI wheels and pays only one CP even though the interior one travels less than its full move as "the group" has made its maximum movement.
In the second example a group of impetuous Cav and Knights moves 3 UD and pays 2 CP as the Cav have not moved their full distance.
So what about wheeling a group of both Cav and Knights? If the Knights are on the outer corner and move 3 UD (and the Cav on the interior obviously move far less than 4 UD is that then one CP?
Or the opposite case - the Knights are on the interior. The group moves up 2 UD and then wheels. If the interior knight moves 1 more UD the Cav will move less than 4 (but more than 3) Is this 1 CP or 2? |

The Kn move at 3 and the Cav move at 4... so the maximum move for the group is 3 UD, be it in straight line or Wheel and therefore the Cav do not move at their maximum ans so this is a difficult move.
Even if the interior unit move only a fraction of UD, it's the deplacement of the exterior unit that is taken: the movement allowance of a group is that of the slugiest unit, and all units of the group are moving in a Wheel as the deplacement of the exterior unit.
The wheling HI your were citing all move at 2 UD, so the group move is 2 UD and if the group Wheel of 2 UD then the group move 2 UD and all the unit in the group are considered as if moved 2 UD, so their maximum move and it's not a difficult move.
The problem happen when you have different units with different movement allowance, and the impetuous ones don't do their maximum move.
it will be the same with impetuous HI and MI in a group: the HI will not move at max speed and all group move will be difficults moves. _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |

Agreed Ffunadan.Â
The basic ‘rule of thumb’ is that a group always moves at the speed of the slowest unit. You may combine Impetuous and ‘normal’ units together with no CP penalty provided the group moves at the maximum speed of the Impetuous units (though note, turning such a group also incurs a movement penalty).Â
So- Pikes may be combined with Impetuous Heavy infantry
(same speeds)
- Cavalry may be combined with Impetuous knights
(the cav is faster) - etc
