"This list represents the armies of Carthage during the Punic Wars."
So why then is Plain the only terrain permitted?
Why no Mountains?
A large part of these wars were fought in Carthaginian territory in Spain so it seems odd to limit the terrain to Plain.
Even stranger, when Hannibal fights in Italy he cannot rely on any hilly terrain.
Just saying.

Because its all based on Phil Barkers concept of geography? I had long argument with him over this in DBM days. |

Well if he gets the initiative, he can choose to be the attacker and pick from the other players terrain list, so he s not limited to Plain. |

These "home terrain" questions are difficult for armies that were geographically spread out. Should Imperial Roman armies always have available Italian terrain? |

All fair points, but when it's "Hannibal in Italy" why not give him Italian terrain?
There are plenty of armies that have differing terrain depending on date, etc.
Ho hum,

What do you mean by Italian terrain, the terrain that tourists admire ?, or the terrain that battles were fought on.
Lake Trasimene was hilly (and wet), but Cannae (Plain, literally) and Trebia, (lateral river and a wood)
The only thing missing in Plain, is a wood, but you get 2 plantations, its a pretty mixed selection of types available.
If you wanted to re-create extreme battle conditions, maybe like Thermopylae or Cynoscephalae, that would surely be more of a scenario setup |
