The answer here lies in the definition of Adjusting positions during Interpretation p43. Citation: | During Interpretation, the movement distance of the unit passing through friends must allow it to at least partially reach the other side of those friends. If the unit cannot be fully crossed, the positions of the units are adjusted . . . | So when interpenetrating, a unit must try to pass through completely to the other side.
P43 adjustment only applies where a unit has moved it’s maximum distance, but failed to fully cross the friend. Contact with the enemy that stops the unit short of its maximum movement (causing adjustment) falls into displacement by Conformation, which includes a unit moving through LI to contact an enemy, since it must attempt to pass right through the LI (to avoid adjusting positions).Â
Note,- This also means that a unit may not Interpretate a friendly unit to voluntarily stop short of contacting an enemy.
- Equally friendly LI may charge enemy LI that are just in front of the battle line, and will displace their battle line should the enemy not evade.

I think the confusing n was arising because the phrase “Cannot be fully crossed†does not specify a cause....Â
Running out of movement distance is one such cause, but my opponent could argue that hitting an enemy (or I guess even hitting a friend, or impassable terrain) would also be a cause for a unit not being able to fully cross another _________________ www.madaxeman.com |
