P20 gives basic factors for artillery.
A) +1 if shooting against EL or WWG
B) +1 for the enemy except if LI or LH.

I think A is for shooting and B is for mêlée.
Is this correct?
Might seem obvious but A is out of place to me.
It would be better suited to be part of table p48 as per bow types shooting mounted, otherwise easy to miss as part of 'shooting resolution'.
B cannot be for shooting as it makes up for light troops protection otherwise.

"Heavy and medium artillery shooting at more than 4 UD can choose any target in the arc of fire"
Can they choose to ignore a target at less than 4 UD range to shoot at one over 4 UD.
Ie is a valid target under 4 UD 1st priority?

Correct, Artillery gets a +1 bonus if shooting at El or WWg (wich will defend at +0)

The target at less than 4 UD are still prioritary. if the only possible targets are at more than 4 UD, then the artillery can choose and is not compelled to shoot at the most in front or the closest.

Correct. However, artillery can shoot through light troops even if they are within 4 MU.
