Periods: Each Team’s player play in a different period using a single list.

- Until 30 June 2024

Final Registration :
- Payment until 14 July 2024
- Lists submission until the 5 August 2024


Provisional Registration:
For the provisional registration you need to email to lusitaniachallenge@ajsportugal.org the following information:
- Team's Name
- Country (will be used for pairing)
- Captain Name
- Captain's valid contact
- The name of the 3 other players of the team

Final Registration:
For the Final registration the captain needs to coordinate its team members payment and notify the organization sending an email to lusitaniachallenge@ajsportugal.org when full team will be made.

Note: We’ll have a no refund policy after payment, but in case of unforeseen circumstances please contact the organization to evaluate how to cover a player loss.

Lists submission:
For the Final registration the captain needs to send to the organization an email to lusitaniachallenge@ajsportugal.org with the following information:
- Confirmation of the name of the 4 players (changes on the Provisional Registration is accepted
- The period in which player will be participating.
- The players list for validation, list needs to comply with:
o C in C general needs to be explicitly indicated
o An exact date and the army option must be indicated.
o When using an ally, army list needs to be explicitly indicated.
o Troops descriptions must be filled.

Maximum Participants:
- 28 Teams

Agenda:
Saturday, 31 August 2024:
09:00 – Tournament starts with the captains’ teams check-in

Sunday, 1 September 2024:
15:00 – End of the tournament


TOURNAMENT RULES:

- Tournament will be played with the V4 of the “Art de la Guerre” rules using latest amendments available at the official site: https://www.artdelaguerre.fr/
- Games will be played with 15/18mm figurines, using official basing scheme. Figurines should be fully painted and correctly representing the type of troops
- Tournament points will be as indicated by the official Tournament Organization Charter:
o Victory: between 100 and 81 pts
o Draw: between 58 and 31 pts
o Loss: between 29 and 10 pts
- The Tournament will have 5 rounds of games.
- Teams and Lists
o Each player will use a single list for the al tournament.
o Each team is composed by 4 players, each one playing in a different period.
o The periods are defined by the years available on the army lists:
* Antiquity: Until 401 BC
* Classical: from 400 BC to 492 AD
* Dark Ages and Feudal: from 493 AD to 1307 AD
* Late Middle Ages: from 1308 AD
- Pairing will follow the official Tournament Organization charter:
o 1st round: Pairing will be by the average ELO level of the players of the teams.
o From the 2nd round: Pairing will follow the classic Swiss system based on the teams’ standings.
o On 1st and 2nd round teams from the same country won’t play each other
- Duration of the game:
o Games are expected to end after 2 hours and 30 minutes.
o There is no limit on the number of turns to play (i.e., reaching the end of turn 7, per si, isn’t enough to declare the end of a game)
o Setup should be done in less than 30 minutes. After 30min of the game Umpires may require to players that didn’t complete their setups to perform an initial round of blitz to recover from delay
o After 2 hours of game call to Blitz will be issued:
* Players that are on the 6th turn defender phase or at a later:
Game will end the game on the next turn defender phase, with no need of blitz (e.g. 6th turn defender phase ends on 7th turn defender phase, 8th turn attacker phase will end on 9th turn defender phase).
* Players that are on the 6th turn attacker phase or less:
Game will immediately start to blitz, even though if the moving phase already started and end the game on the 7th turn defender phase.
* Regarding to blitz players can’t agree on another way to proceed with the game, to not follow the blitz indication timing may imply penalties to both players.
o Players are expected to control game timing and needs to call for the umpire in the case of difficulties on the normal course of the game.
- Information that a player needs to clarify to the opponent when asked upon:
o Army list number.
o Year and chosen option for the list.
o If the army includes or not a Strategist general
o Number of visible units on the table
- Material:
o Mats from the organization will be available to all players, but players can bring their own.
o Terrains from the organization will be available to all players, but players can brin their own.
o Players can’t use their own dices, only the ones provided by the organization can be used.
- Information Sheet:
o Players needs to register their battle plan at the beginning of each game:
* Write on the Opponent Name box, the name of the opponent.
* Indicate which command is on the right, left and center.
* If there is a flank march, indicate if it’s on the left or right flank and the command number that will be off table.
* Write on the Ambush boxes the number of units and their type.
o During the game each player needs to register:
* The turn number before rolling the first orders dice.
o In the end of the games each player needs to register on their sheet:
* The numbers of units their army lost.
* Their result of the game (i.e., win, draw or lose)
* The number and type of enemy generals that they managed to capture.
* Indicate if they managed to capture the enemy camp and if so, to specify which type of camp.
- Delays:
o If after 10 minutes a player isn’t present at the gaming table, his camp will count as taken and his opponent wins the initiative.
o After 20 minutes of delay the game will be lost to the opponent being considered a withdrawal result (81 points to the victor and 10 points to the player that wasn’t present on due time)
- Ruling:
o In case of doubts a second umpire decision may be involved, but players need to accept final Umpire decision.
o Players may request for further clarification on the ruling, but due to lack of time, this clarification will be made after the game and if the ruling was wrong, we apologize for it, but the result won’t be changed. You’ll need to accept it as part of the fortune of war.
o In case of exceptional situations, the Umpires will decide on the form of action, that will have to be accepted by the players.

1) are the American armies to be included in their respective historical sections - as per the statement "The periods are defined by the years available on the army lists:" ?

2) are allied contingents allowed?
