This may have been covered previously but I cannot find the thread.
If I have 2 units of Light Cavalry one behind the other, must the rear unit be in range of the target to be eligible to act as a support to the front unit in shooting?
In an extreme case - if the front unit is bow armed and the rear is javelin armed, and the front unit is shooting at maximum range - 2 UD - does this prohibit support from the rear javelin armed unit as it is out of range of the target.
Many thanks

P.49 Shooting Overhead 4th bullet point. Range is measured from the front edge of the front unit. So for a second rank javelin LH to be able to support shoot, the front rank LH would need to be at/within 1 UD of the target. |

The same bullet point also says you have to armed with similar weapons so you can't have a Javelin armed LH firing overhead a bow anyway |

Many thanks folks
The second rank having to be the same type as the front rank is the key
Cheers

Worth noting on this that the second rank is shooting in support of the front rank.
I say that because if you have four units in a 2 x 2 group only one of the second rank units will get to shoot in support.
Because the other would not be supporting its own front rank.

On a related note....
How does it work if I have 2x LC Bw in a column, 1MU to the side of an opposing unit and facing the same way:
H_LC
---LC
The front LC can obviously fire, can the second fire as it is in support? Or is it allowed to fire anyway as the hostile unit is in arc?
Thanks |
