|
If a light foot unit blocks the evade of enemy light foot who are then eliminated in the melee phase, can the successful Mediums pursue and interpenetrate the light foot that were blocking? |

In principle they could interpenetrate, if the pursuing unit had sufficient movement distance at least to pass partly through the friendly LI.
However, given that the enemy LI is 1/2 UD and the blocking LI is also 1/2 UD, even if the blockers were effectively touching the enemy LI, that would still represent 1UD, the maximum pursuit distance. Therefore, since the pursuers cannot move partly beyond their friends, the answer is NO. |

Wait I don't think the interpenetrate section specifies you can do so in pursuit. |

It mentions interpretation in a charge and an evade, my view was that since pursuit isn't mentioned it wasn't allowed, but an alternative view was put forward, so i thought I'd see if there was a previous discussion or alternatively a consensus. |

Not stated is not allowed. Commonsense.
Rules don't say my children's dinosaurs can't parachute in and smash your figures, but I would rule against that as an umpire. Also as a player, collector and father. |

Fair point. My apologies it does have an excessive edge. Would you like me to delete it?
I do think the absent permission it is not allowed is valid. |

It was a hyperbole used to stress a point which the submitter considered valid
I thought it was amusing anyway _________________ Korik |

Since I took it to be directed at me, since it included a quotation, my initial thought was that it wasn't helpful and was unnecessary. It didn't really advance the point under discussion, a point I was in agreement with anyway.
I drafted a reply that was at best snarky, but decided against posting as I really can't be arsed arguing about toy soldiers on an internet forum. |

This has a long history in wargaming circles.
"But the rules don't say I can't" goes the refrain. (Anyone else old enough to remember Paul Stovell's elephants dancing round the Cantabrian Circle?)
The general take on rules should be they say what you can do (prescriptive), not what you can't (proscriptive). As the latter would be incredibly unwieldy.
