If the unmanoeuverable unit makes several difficult manoeuvres in two or three different moves during the movement phase, then it will incur +1CP in each move.

So hypothetically, a group of Impetuous cavalry that makes three moves as follows incurs the following costs
  1. right turn and move short
    1CP+1CP +1CP penalty total = 3CP

  2. move short
    1CP +1CP penalty total =2CP

  3. group makes a third move, a left turn and move short,
    1CP+1CP+1CP  +1CP penalty total =4CP
Ok?

Well,

1) 1cp, difficult manœuvre(don't know English word) and short move+1, 2CP total
2) short move: 1cp + 1cp penalty, total 2
3) 3rd mve, turn left and move short:
1cp, +1cp as being 3rd move, +1cp for turning left and short move: 3cp
now, can you explain how a general can get 8 cp? Very Happy

No, you have added too many penalties! There is only one +1 penalty added to the unit's movement regardless of how many multiple moves it makes during its turn. So in your example it would be 5CP.

1. 1CP for first (short) move plus 1CP unmanouverable penalty
2. 1CP for second (full) move
3. 1CP for third (full) move plus 1CP for third move
Total 5 CP - it's not going to be possible very often!!

Also worth noting...Impetuous MI can't make a third move as it is an unmaneuverable troop type that is not Impetuous Cavalry...

Agreed Zoltan, +1CP total penalty is indeed the sense of the FAQ.

However, I am still seeking total clarity on the terminology because of the ambiguity caused by referring to a unit making multiple difficult moves, and the unit being allowed to make multiple moves outside 4UD from the enemy. Obviously this could raise the penalty for the second and third moves to +2CP, or +3CP respectively.

Well I thought that all along we have been talking about the scenario of multiple difficult moves outside 4UD from the enemy! You can't make multiple moves within 4UD of the enemy, whether the moves are difficult or not.

I think this too is wrong as the extra CP for a third move is because it is a difficult manoeuvre.

Since the difficult manoeuvre has already been paid for on the first move you don't have to pay it again on turn 3. No?

I have checked with various sources, both French and English, and with El Kreator.

The consensus is that the FAQ is at best ambiguous, and needs to be updated (in the next round of changes). The problem lies in the confusion in the term “move†which has several different meanings in the rules. The following should be clear enough to explain the position agreed by all I have spoken to.

Citation:
During the Movement phase a unit or group outside 4UD of the enemy may make a second or third “movementâ€.

During any “movementâ€, the unit / group may perform multiple difficult manoeuvres but only pays +1CP penalty per “movement†for a total penalty of 1-3CP during the Movement phase.

So just to be completely clear, an unmaneuverable unit which makes two movements in a movement phase and both those movements included difficult maneuvers, that would cost 2+2=4?

Perfect. That’s how we’ve always played so shouldn’t change anything in our playgroup. We honestly didn’t even think about this until it was mentioned here and we reread the wording.

Glad we could get clarified though!
