Group of Impetuous units

Q : If a group of impetuous HI wheels and the one at the far end moves 2UD, while the one on the interior of the wheel travels less than 1UD, do you pay 1 or 2 CPs ? A : Only 1 CP because the group has made its maximum movement.

Q : If a group comprising impetuous cavalry and impetuous knights makes a move of 3UD, do you pay 1 or 2 CPs ? A : 2 CPs because the cavalry hasn’t moved it’s full movement allowance of 4UD.

This is p.3 of the FaQ. Please guide me through the interpretation of these seemingly identical rules with different results!!!!...

Thank you

On the second example, the group is not making a pivot, so both example does not concern the same issue.

First example, the group has moved 2 UD which is the movement allowance of the HI. Therefore, all the units of the group have moved their full allowance (Even if the interior one moved effectively less, he is considered to have moved 2 UD per rules)

Second example the group has moved 3UD. So all units in the group are considered to have moved 3 UD. As the cavalry has a movement of 4 UD, they are not considered to have moved their full move allowance and group movement is therefore costed higher.

So if I want to "break" the rules, All I have to do to spend just 1 cp with my cav group is make a MINI-pivot...say one milimeter. And that is it...I Can move almos my max ud, and then make a mini pivot and voilá. Thats just 1 cp????

No it is not possible.

That's not the pivot that allow to reduce spending. The pivot only affect the effective movement of each unit of the group without changing the movement of the group as a whole.

In the first case, the "group" moved 2 UD, therfore per the rules all "units" in the group have moved 2 UD.(whatever move they effectively made)

In the second case, the "group" moved 3 UD. Therefore all the "units" in the group have moved 3 UD. As the cavalry "units" need to move 4 UD this is not OK for them. Therefore it is not ok for the "group" which means, it cost 2 points to move.

If instead of cavalry, the knights had been grouped with light infantry, the move would only have cost 1 point.

When checking for difficult move with groups you don't check the effective move of each unit in it. You have to check the move of the group then consider how it affects each unit in the group. If for whatever reason (terrain, impetuous, and so on) at least one unit would have to assume a difficult move, the whole group is affected.

Ok!...so...

If a group is made by say 2 heavy inf and 2 impetuous médium inf on they side, and they pivot and the hi mives a total of 2 ud, then you would have to pay extra vp because the impetupus médium didnt move all their move.
is this right?

The problem is caused by grouping faster impetuous units with slower units. Doing this means that inevitably the impetuous units will not move their maximum distance, even if you try to wheel.

Notionally you could combine impetuous units with others that have the same speed or that are slower and non-impetuous, the effect being to make the group behave as though they were all impetuous.

Does that help?

This is correct.

The issue here is how far have the impetuous medium inf moved? If less than 3 then an extra CP.

And if is less more than 2 Ud, this exceed the moving distance of HI.

Lesson is :
Don't group impetuous units with slower units or be prepared to have a group that is a pain in the a** to move due to extra cost

Cool thanks.
That is exactly the way we did it, but the FAQ actually made me doubt about the whole procedure!
