You can hit a unit on two sides and cause a cp loss before a mêlée has even started.
So is this just a disorder cp loss or a pre mêlée mêlée loss ?

In my view the rules on p24 right column last paragraph, 2nd sentence. where the die roll for loss of commander is triggered.
combined with
p 59 left column 5th paragraph first sentence that reads "the loss is applied before melee is resolved."
clearly answers to my mind your question. Which is Yes it is a pre-melee loss for the purposes of the die roll being triggered.
Others think this is not clear. They are wrong.

This question will be adressed in the next FAQ in order to clarify when this test must be done.
According to our present thought, this test takes place after all the loss of cohesion possibilities in the turn. That is to say probably during the rout/poursuit phase.
To be confirmed by the FAQ.

the old monty python jokes still work, but only for those really old people like me who half remember them, after a lot of prompting!
For the younger generation and our overseas colleagues, the standard rates for arguments are for 5 minutes or 15 minutes, though I fancy inflation will have set in since 1972 when the sketch was first broadcast!

The answer to that one is they do not.
Also you can't shoot at someone in melee so thankfully we should be spared that argument. |
