I remember Phil Barker first came over to Worthing with the DBA rules when it first came out, and we ended up with DBMM, umpteen years and army lists later. Just so long as there is not a temptation to over dabble. People seem to seek simplicity, then proceed to over complicate things. |
There seems to be a pretty strong bulwark from the author to not "over dabble".
Another difference is Barker (who gave us a lot) was very invested in his controlling the actual wording, hence barkerese. But El Kreator seems more committed to letting the FAQ smooth out any errors in Kreator-ese and translated Kreator-ese.

I believe the Russian army is on the AK-103 now, and that is after refining the AK-47 into the AKM. Then there is the whole AK-74 line firing lighter 5.45mm ammo.
This actually sort of makes the point these are all refinements on a simple functional design - but totally unchanging is not necessary either. |

Elephants.
They're unstoppable. I mean simply nothing stands against them. _________________ http://luddite1811.blogspot.co.uk/ |

Bows shoot them down as elephants cannot rally.
Thus elephants have LI screens.
In mêlée javelinmen are the only troop type that has a advantage against elephants. Some not immediately obvious as they stop elephant plusses. _________________ Player 747 don't call me Jumbo |

Against éléphants, the best way is cancel troops around them. And there's différents ways to shoot on them without LI screen. _________________ "Quand on a pas de technique, faut y aller à la zob"

And like all troops, elephants have vulnerable flanks. Ideally they should be deployed with supporting formations to defend their weaknesses, but if you can destroy these formations, they are just mere pussy cats.
The trick is being able to do this with a minimum number of troops while also holding up the enemy advance supported by massed pachyderms. . . |

One thing to consider with elephants is that their weaknesses force you to play them "better." Because they can't rally and are so vulnerable to shooting everyone screens them carefully with LI and works hard to insure they have the best charge into the enemy you can manage.
Yes they hit hard when they get there, but because of these obvious weaknesses players work hard to make sure they make it in relatively intact. Do the same with all your strike troops. |
