I don't think we always need to have an FAQ as the solution for points raised in this forum. For nugatory points like this road thingy I suggest people simply agree with their play mates on how they want to play it. We don't all have to play precisely by the same interpretations around the world. No one is going to die as a result of a little ambiguity especially over relatively immaterial points like the road thingy.
FAQs should be reserved for ambiguities that are FREQUENTLY being raised AND have a MATERIAL impact on the game mechanisms. |

Since it's of no importance why even bother mentioning it to your opponent - in fact why bother with rules at all _________________ Putting the ink into incompetence |

It seems the French and New Zealand interpretation is that the units get the +1UD bonus.
The British and American interpretation is that they don't.
We at least need a FAQ about it.

So I don't know where the French play it.
I sort of agree not everything needs to be IN the FAQ. I would say for this level I would be happy with a DT post on this subject. |

Ok, and apologies for the delayed response. The issue here hinges on semantics, and the distinction between a unit’s movement allowance as opposed to the distance it moves.
I asked the technical board the following question and got the following official response :
Q : Does movement entirely on a road, that starts or ends with a ninety degree turn, still gain the extra 1UD.
A : YES. Provided the entire movement allowance is expended, and the unit moves entirely on the road, the unit gains the extra 1UD.
So, a cavalry unit can turn and still move 4UD along the road and notionally a Pike block could turn on a road and gain 1UD movement. Equally a medium infantry unit could move 3UD along the road and then turn.
Hopefully this will clarify things in all areas |
