|
I apologize for my bad English
AAAABBBB
XXXXYYYY
Unit X destroys unit A in A's phase, so it cannot pursue
It's now X's phase.
Can X spend 1 CP to advance one UD straight ahead so it can conform to B's flank the next turn?
I think not, as it is in corner to corner contact and I understand its only options are to stay put or to conform to the front of B if Y is destroyed. However, I am quite new to the rules and perhaps I have it all wrong
Second question.
In the same case, can X disengage. It's not providing support by fighting against the flank of the enemy. Or is it? |

As XXX is fighting as an overlap, it can freely move alongside BBB. But at it start its move with no point of its front behind the line extended from BBB front, it cannot contact BBB on the flank. (p 51 2nd para).
XXX can move 1/2 UD alongside BB flank, still counting as overlap and, on the following turn, can pivot and legally hit and conform to BBB flank. _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"

If X moves 1/2 UD forward and then in the follow move turns hitting Y in the flank does it come as a flank charge? |

The other question this situation throws up is whether a move along the side of the enemy counts as a 1 point move for unmaneuverable/impetuous troops... _________________ www.madaxeman.com |

It cost 1 PIP as your unit end its move in contact with the enemy (p32, right column, 1st bullet) _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"

Thank you for your answers.
So I gather that the movement options of a base in corner to corner contact with an engaged enemy base are not restricted in any special way.
Is that the reason that nobody answered my second question?
That is, there is no need to disengage at all if you can move anywhere. Is that correct? |

Yes, that's it, the Disengage move only for troops in melee (front edge contact) with enemy. |
