A line of four impetuous knights pays CP to charge. The knight on the left of the line will hit an enemy spearman. An enemy pikeman is also within charge reach, just to the right of the knights:

Spear nothing here, just space Pike

The knight to the right of the one which contacts the spear will support his friend in melee. The two knights on the far right will not contact any enemy at all. Are they considered to have "charged" because they are part of a group that has charged?

I ask because of the "Uncontrolled Charge" rules on p 40.

If the whole group is considered to have charged (even if the rightwingers have not hit anything) then the move would only cost 1 CP.

However, if they are not considered to have charged I think the move would cost 3 CP as the rightwingers will be carrying out an action other than a charge, while within charge reach of an enemy.

Does this move cost 1 CP or 3 CP?

Yes, it costs only 1 CP because you give an order to the group and one unit of the group is able to contact ennemy.

So, stay in group with impetuous.

I don't think you are asking this, but do remember that impetuous units that charge must move their whole distance unless they contact.

So your right most units must go 3 UD.
