|
Hi there,
I've got a question concerning list 57 - Saitic Egyptian
Using this list one may field Greek hoplites:
"Greek mercenaries *
Heavy spearmen 0 - 6
Add armour
Upgrade to elite (max 1)"
In the notes to the army, it states:
"One Commander can be included in a Greek mercenary unit classed as elite.
He must command all and only Greek mercenaries."
The question now is:
Does the last sentence only apply, if the commander is included, or regardless of him being included or not.
In other words: May I combine Greek mercenaries and other troops in one command, and may I divide up the Greeks to different commands as long as there is no commander included in a Greek mercenary unit, or is it, that Greeks always have to build their own command?
Thanks. |

The general tendency in ADLG lists is to err on the side of generosity with things like this - hence the rule allowing "Strategist only" options to be taken even if the "named general" is not represented as a "Strategist".
On that basis, were I list checking, I'd probably allow the hoplites to be taken without the "Greek" general, and divvied up amonst the commands.
If a "Greek" general is taken as an included general though, the hoplite he is with must be upgraded to elite (you can't stick him in an Ordinary hoplite), and all hoplites (and only them) must then be commanded by him.
Other list checkers may think differently I guess, but that's my two penneth anyway. _________________ www.madaxeman.com |

Thanks!
At least, some people in Germany tend to see it the other way, as it looks like. (Hey, Germans, we just love to obey rules )
Is there any chance to get a kind of "official" decision from the author or so?
Regards
