This has probably been asked a million times but:
Paraphrasing the rules a unit when charge from the front can evade by turning to its rear and moving in a straight line or if the owning play decides it evade in the direction of the charge. On Friday my opponent was saying that section of the rules is incorrect and a unit may only evade in the direction of the charge. Which is correct? |

I would go with the rules as written. They give both options, changing direction “if the player wishesâ€. Why does your opponent think that they do not mean what they say? |

When somebody said the rules are incorect, he has to prove it, usualy by FAQ. _________________ "Quand on a pas de technique, faut y aller à la zob"

Mike in answer to your question he had read on the forum there was a translation issue and the French meant it say a turn away from the enemy then a wheel to align with the direction of charge then move directly away from the enemy.
My issue with this it makes it really easy to push light horse off the board because if the charge is angled towards the side edge of the board then the Light horse are going have to evade towards the side edge rather their rear.

It is safest to stick to the official rules, FAQs and amendments. Memoey or opinions on the forum may be imperfect |

Yep, I did spot a few differences, from memory I think that they included voluntary revealing ambushes and impetuous moves to combat in terrain. Main issues in spotting then however is whether someone buys rules in both languages. Otherwise they are invisible until spotted in a game or conversation with someone with an alternative language version.
Novel to have the problem this way round for Anglophones, but then we have had it to our good for som many years we really cannot complain |

While some differences have occurred due to the translation process, it seems unlikely in this case.Â
The evade process part 4 (p39) is devoted to this voluntary change of evade direction, including a picture. Â |
