P 62 para 5 covers pursuing into contact. No-one can evade from a pursuit contact.
Ref the compulsory full 1UD pursuit for impetuous units, I presume they forgot to put in "unless a new enemy ... |

The reason I started this thread is that I frequently place ambushes on roads in villages (and elsewhere). It is not a game winner, believe me.
Remember the road/village combo goes down before m ... |

I agree with Tim’s general points about game balance, but surely ambushes on roads are commonplace enough, whether or not a village is involved. They do indeed require a certain tactical response.
